The support hub will provide advice and practical support for local people in financial hardship, making it easier for residents to get the help they need.
The new West Berkshire Cost of Living Hub, which is being created to support those facing financial hardship this winter, is now open to residents.
Local people can find advice and support around cost of living issues with a wealth of information available on the hub website. Staff will also be able to provide advice and match residents’ needs with the support available both nationally and locally, including from local charities and voluntary organisations.
The initiative has been set up by West Berkshire Council in partnership with Greenham Trust and the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, and will work closely with the local community and voluntary sector.
Ahead of the launch work has been done with partners to map food providers and other voluntary sector support for residents affected by the cost of living, to ensure a comprehensive range of support is available to refer residents to as required.
The hub will be open from Monday-Thursday 8.30-5.00pm and Friday 8.30am-4.30pm.
More information about the hub and an online contact form can be found on the website https://www.westberks.gov.uk/cost-of-living. Enquiries can be submitted at any time via the online form and will be processed during opening hours.
We recommend people make initial contact using the online form so that we can best process and give the right advice to respond to their query, however if necessary people can also call the team on: 01635 503333 or email: costofliving@westberks.gov.uk

Many thanks to all those who participated in Saturday’s fundraising event and to all those who supported it with their donations. We were blessed with great weather on Saturday and the walk, which was kindly lead by Jonathan Hull, was enjoyed by everyone while the run was successfully completed, but possibly rather less enjoyed by some of those on it! We made it though and the picnic on the Rec proved to be a welcome celebration.
Thanks to all your generosity we have raised enough funds to obtain a defibrillator for the village hall and to run training, or re-training courses for those who did it 6 years ago, for anyone interested. We hope to get the equipment installed in the next couple of months and to start training classes at about the same time.
Please get in touch with the Parish Council Clerk if you would be interested in attending training. Email parishcouncil@boxford.org.uk
An extra Parish Meeting was held on Tuesday 10th August 2021 at 7.15pm in the Village Hall.
The meeting was called to hear initial design proposals for the new owners of the Bell Public House. A copy of the minutes can be downloaded below.
We are absolutely delighted to tell you that the Boxford Masques is going ahead this summer!
Following our recent AGM and Organising Committee meeting we decided that subject to the continued easing of lockdown we can put on a truly great show for everyone end of July this year. We believe we can make this a true community effort, with wide support and participation from all over our area; at a time when, let’s face it, we all want to get out again and have some fun!
We have a play ready, a huge tent to shelter us, the Boxford Rec booked and local council support…..but there are still a few things we need help with to better manage budgets:
Equipment: Local bands The Migz and The Station are generously loaning us sound equipment but we still need more microphones, particularly radio and rifle mics. We also need Par Cans and other types of lighting, plus a couple of generators.
Volunteers: We need help with front of house, chaperoning and costume making. We also need people to direct in the car park and to sell programmes,
Musical: We have a band and if you have any particular instrumental skills which can add something, please step up.
If you can help or know someone who can, please let us know; all help, no matter how small, is so important to us.
Email info@boxfordmasques.org.uk if you would like further information
After the year we have all had, we really hope to make this show, on our 21st birthday, a stunning community celebration of joy, fun and life!
Showtime! 28th July – 1st August 2021 Our 21st Birthday!
